The Toussaint L. Hale Scholarship and Benevolence Fund is dedicated to empowering the Greater Birmingham community through charitable, educational, and community initiatives. We support students in local school districts with scholarships and educational resources and assist families in crisis with essential needs such as food and clothing. Our mission is simple, let’s foster a thriving community where every individual has the opportunity to succeed and achieve.
Our Vision
The Toussaint L. Hale Scholarship and Benevolence Fund plan to be the catalyst for positive change in the Greater Birmingham area, through advancing educational attainment, supporting families in times of need, and enriching the community through collaborative partnerships and sustainable initiatives. We aspire to build a future where compassion, education, and opportunity converge to create lasting impact and uplift the Greater Birmingham community.
What We Do
The Toussaint L. Hale Scholarship and Benevolence Fund exists to bridge the gap between ambition and opportunity for Birmingham high school students. We are committed to making higher education accessible by providing scholarships, mentorship, and support to students with the drive to succeed but limited financial means.
Why We’re Needed
In Birmingham, far too many talented high school students face a common and disheartening obstacle: the dream of college is just out of reach because of financial barriers. Rising tuition costs, limited access to resources, and generational economic challenges create a cycle where capable students are forced to put their dreams on hold—or give them up entirely.
This is more than a financial issue. It’s a matter of equity, empowerment, and creating a better future for our communities.
How We Help
The Toussaint L. Hale Scholarship and Benevolence Fund was founded to change that reality. We do more than award scholarships—we walk alongside students, offering mentorship, encouragement, and a network of support as they transition from high school to college. Our team works closely with local schools, families, and community leaders to identify students who have the potential to thrive if simply given the chance.
